Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017
& 3rd European Choir Games
In his 60th year, popular musician and composer Uldis Marhilēvičs has created a composition for Crossing the Bridges, a multimedia child and youth major choir concert, which will be performed for the first time on 20th July at Arēna Rīga.
Media accreditation is now open for the Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017 & 3rd European Choir Games to take place from July 16-23, 2017 in Riga.
Ticket sales have begun for the events at the Grand Prix of Nations Rīga 2017 and the 3rd European Choir Games programme, which will transform Rīga into the world choir music capital.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is excited to launch a new TV talent competition format for amateur choirs, Eurovision Choir of The Year, as an addition to the Eurovision Family of Events led by the well-known Eurovision Song Contest.
At this sad time, we mourn together with Christian Ljunggren’s family, his wife Margaret and colleagues. The passing away of Christian is a great loss for the entire choir music community.

As next year’s Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017 and the European Choir Games producers from Riga, we support “One Day One Choir” movement. Tonight, on the 21st of September, on the International Peace Day, together with the mixed choir “Aura” we will sing “Sun, Thunder, Daugava” a song written by a Latvian composer Martins Brauns.
Today, after a two year hiatus, the World Choir Game’s Peace Bell was rung once again and was placed on permanent display in the St. Peters Church’s exposition.
Only a year remains before the beginning of Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017 and the 3rd European Choir Games, which in 2017 will occur from the 16th to the 23rd of July in Riga and other Latvias cities.

After the huge success of the World Choir Games 2014, we are glad to announce that Riga will once again open its doors widely to become the host city of 3rd European Choir Games and Grand Prix of Nations Riga in 16-23 July, 2017.
Next year, in Riga, during the 3rd European Choir Games and the Grand Prix of Nations, people will gather together in the world’s largest choir. In order to invite singers from all over the world, we are beginning a social media video-invitation campaign through which Latvian choirs, students and friends will be able to address world choirs; inviting them to meet in July of 2017 in Riga.
On September 16th 2015, Riga’s Vice Mayor Andris Ameriks with INTERKULTUR (World Choir Games organizer) president Gunter Titsch signed an official agreement to organize the 3rd European Choir Games and the Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017 in Riga.
